Broken Promises

Broken Promises in the Workplace

I think that broken promises in the workplace are the number one reason that employees start looking for other means of employment. I look at it like a care dealer. If you are fair and truthful, I will be back again to buy another vehicle. If you lie and will not make things right, I will make sure I do not step foot back into your organization.

Here is a short list of broken promises that I have seen or had other people tell me about.

  • Education/Certification (No policies or reimbursement)
  • Pay increase
  • Pay increase after certification
  • Promised promotion
  • More work with the same or less pay
  • Goals meet without an incentive
  • Removal from an On-Call rotation
  • More responsibility without a job title change
  • Possible employer taking 5-10 weeks to offer a job

If there are any more feel free to leave a comment below with broken promises you have seen.

This is not one of my normal posts. I just wanted to put this post out there for people and employer to talk about. If you want to maintain good talent make sure that you keep these promises.
