Nutanix File Services Setup

When this post was written, the File Services feature was in tech preview

A couple weeks ago I helped a client setup file services on a POC (Proof of Concept) cluster.  Below is the walkthrough.

For this post PRISM has already been completely configured and domain authentication has been setup and tested.

Log into PRISM

Setup two different networks. These networks have to be on separate subnets.

networks

You will need to setup advanced networking. Make sure that these networks are tagged.  VLAN.0 does not work.

In the advanced networking:

dhcp

dhcp2

Enable DHCP. Your scope must have 5 IP addresses or more.  If you plan to have more than 3 servers you need to have more IP addresses available in the pool.

Once that is complete goto file services and setup a new file server.

Click on File_Server

fs1

fs2

fs3

fs4

Allow these tasks to complete.

Once that has completed, setup the file shares.

** Update **

The engineering team at Nutanix has made a vast number if improvements. The Asterix/5.0 release will be awesome.  As more is released, I will make sure I get a couple of posts ready.
