Imprivata Licensing

I have learned a little bit about Imprivata licensing over the last couple of months.

These are the standard practices for Imprivata:

• You have to purchase at least 50 licenses per order
• You have to have an Imprivata installer travel to your site and complete the installation
• The OVF and license file are emailed directly to the client (I am OK with this)

I have reached out to Imprivata to explain a couple of these standards and make a case.

The one standard that really confuses me is… no matter how many licenses you own you have to purchase at least fifty licenses with every order. So let’s take a look at this practice from a small business view. I have already purchased Imprivata licenses twice.  Fifty licenses per order, for a total of one hundred licenses. I have a need to add twenty more users. I do not see the need to ever have one hundred fifty licenses. To make the minimum order with Imprivata I have to order a full fifty licenses. Let’s say that price is $6,000.  The number of licenses required would be half this price.

Recommendation for Imprivata.

Make the minimum less than fifty. Minimum of twenty-five would be great. Then charge me a fee for being less than fifty. There is no way that processing licenses will cost $3,000.  I would be more than happy to pay $3,500 or even $4,000 for twenty-five licenses.
